Why We Do What We Do
"Thank you so much for the blue blanket. I love it so much. It's the most beautiful blanket I have ever seen and I will cherish it always."
Anyone, any age, can help children like these. If you would like to volunteer to help, please contact us.
It is within your power to make a difference!

Letters and Notes
Dearest Trudy and Project Linus Quilters of Klamath Basin-
I cannot adequately express to you the emotions, delightment, or gratitude bursting from the campers at Klamath Hospice's Camp Evergreen on Aug. 18 when you passed out quilts to 50 children who have suffered a death in their family. Trudy expressed it perfectly when she said that someone who does not even know you has put their arms around you with this quilt. Each child wanted to show off your gift--some shyly, some boldly, some with joy and some with tears. I can guarantee that most of us adults were pretty misty-eyed. THANK YOU, THANK YOU for your dedication, creativity, and generousity!
With much respect, admiration and gratitude,
Marcia Hale, Director
Camp Evergreen

I received the following from a nurse at Rogue Valley NICU:
Hello, I'm a NICU nurse at RVMC (I would like to remain anonymous but wanted to share some comments!) I want to thank everyone that has made these blankets for our babies. They really brighten up the babies bed, and parents always think it is really nice that they get such a cute blanket to actually keep for their little ones. I can't tell you the number of times it has made a parent smile.
I noticed in our last donations there was a mixture of different size blankets - some that were a little bit bigger (I don't know dimensions, but toddler sized perhaps?) I think these are really nice because we can use them on the baby's bed - they are great for blocking out bright lights when they are in an open crib or isolette (incubator) and they will grow with the baby after they go home.
When we get a new donation of blankets I LOVE looking through them and picking one out. We often coordinate the rest of the linen in their bed based on whatever Linus blanket they have to keep. There have been some very beautiful blankets lately! Thanks again for all the kindness, what a great project and know that they are very much appreciated.
So, let's stop making preemies (18"x18") for awhile and concentrate on crib size - approximately 26" x 48". Thanks, ladies, for everything you do and isn't it nice to see how much your efforts are appreciated.

Coordinator Notes
As many of you know, the Sewing Machine Center suffered a small fire in June. Apparently there was a lot of smoke damage and they have decided to close the store. There will be a fire sale, but it will be in Bend.
Jeanette's Fabric in Central Point is NOT closing. They will become a discount store and all of their fabric will be 30% off -- all the time!
Tater Patch Quilts has received the Komfort Kids fabric collection designed by Patrick Lose and manufactured by Avlyn -- it is beautiful and high-class fabric. Avlyn will give 8% of all sales back to Project Linus. Watch for more fabric designed especially for us in the future.
Please support all of the quilt shops supporting Project Linus - we couldn't do this without their help.
Please mark your calendars for September 17, 18 & 19, 2010. A Project Linus Regional Conference will be held in Portland and all volunteers are invited to attend. We are just in the planning stages so we will keep you posted as things progress. The Project Linus President and Vice-President will be attending and will speak to those in attendance. This will be a scaled-down version of Conference, but I think you will be pleased with the outcome.
