About Project Linus
Klamath Falls/Klamath Basin Chapter

In 2003 a group of 15 women began making lap quilts, pillows and bags for every new chemo patient at Merle West Medical Center (now Sky Lakes Medical Center).

In 2004, Cassandra Hodges, a 4-year-old Klamath Falls girl who police believe died at the hands of her mother and her mother’s boyfriend, sparked Cassandra’s Cuddle Quilts. These quilts were also made by the original group from the hospital.

In 2006 we began considering Project Linus. As a group, we decided to apply to be a chapter. Two of our members were Blanketeers in Southern California so we had some experience to get us started. We were approved by the National Office in November of 2006 and officially began in January 2007. And, the rest is history in the making.

We didn’t have a clue what to expect for numbers of blankets we would receive for distribution. My first thought was if we received 500 the first year we would have done a great job – we received over 1000. This was made possible by many generous individuals.

We continue to grow and now serve Klamath/Lake/Jackson Counties in Oregon and Siskiyou County in California.
